After having her son, Su-Ying decided she wanted to have more emotional space for parenting and switched from a career in social services to art. She worked in not-for-profit art galleries, becoming a curator. About ten years ago, she left her job and has been working as a freelance curator since. At that particular moment, she was open to any potential future, new experiences, and possible directions for her life. So, when acquaintance Nafisa Kaptownwala formerly of Lorde Inc. approached her to model, she said yes. Finding the experience to be incredibly new and freeing, Su-Ying continues to expand and explore through modelling.
